Protocol Index and Alpinestars RSRV debuted their collaboration "Altered States" during Paris Fashion Week.
The capsule was developed as a collaborative inquiry into how systems of protection can be recontextualized through a series of one-off looks and silhouettes. Rather than referencing motorsport directly, the work looks at technical garments and protective structures as starting points for transformation.
Materials originally designed for function and safety are reconstructed and displaced into a new context, forming a limited capsule collection and two one-off looks created specifically for the project. Friends of RSRV Dina Ayada, Bloodysanji, Artie5, Green Montana, Hayao Matsumara, Yvesmark Cherry, and YouthOfParis dropped in on the exhibition to cosign this collaboration.
The collection was presented in Paris on June 24th as a dedicated installation during Paris Fashion Week. The exhibition space was designed as a hybrid environment somewhere between backstage and showroom, furthering the notion of the looks and collection being ever-evolving, style in progress.
The installation combined elements of preparation and presentation within a single space. Draped textile environments and carpeted flooring were placed alongside clothing racks, footwear displays, model tags, and production materials typically associated with behind-the-scenes staging.
The result was a space where finished garments and production context existed together, without separation. Style was treated as something continuously produced, rather than something static.
ALTERED STATES will extend beyond Paris, with the capsule collection and one-off pieces releasing through a curated global retail network for Spring Summer 2027.
